What this service does

Areola restoration is a paramedical cosmetic tattoo that uses hand-blended pigment, highlight, and shadow to recreate the visual appearance of a natural areola on a reconstructed or flat surface. For many clients, it is the final visual step in a long journey of treatment, surgery, and reconstruction.

Who it's best for

  • Post-mastectomy clients (unilateral or bilateral)
  • Clients after breast reconstruction
  • Restoring color, dimension, and symmetry
  • Refreshing prior areola tattoos that have faded

What to expect

  • A private consultation to review your timeline and surgeon clearance
  • A second private session for design and color matching
  • A treatment appointment of 60–120 minutes per side
  • Full draping and an unhurried, calm pace
  • An optional perfecting session 6–10 weeks later

Healing overview

Color appears intense for the first week, then softens as the skin sheds. Final color and dimension settle in by week 5. We provide a detailed aftercare protocol tailored to reconstructed tissue.

Frequently asked questions

+How long after surgery can I have areola restoration?

Most clients are ready 6–12 months after their final reconstruction surgery, with a written clearance from their surgeon. We're happy to coordinate with your care team.

+Will it look realistic?

Our 3D technique uses hand-blended pigments, highlight, and shadow to create the optical illusion of natural dimension on a flat reconstructed surface. Results are intentionally restorative and realistic — never flat or stamped.

+Is the appointment private?

Yes. Areola restoration is performed in a fully private treatment room with comfortable draping. Sessions are unhurried and you may bring a support person.

+Does it hurt if I have reduced nerve sensation?

Most post-reconstruction clients have reduced sensation in the treatment area and find the appointment very comfortable. Topical numbing is used throughout for clients with normal sensation.

+How long does it last?

Most clients enjoy stable color for 3–5 years before a refresh. Sun protection helps significantly.
